FAQ
How do I book a belly dance show? You can call Najla at 347-635-5125 or send her an email with the details of your event. Make sure to include information like date, time, type of party, number of guests and any special requests. After receiving your message, Najla will contact you to continue planning your custom event. Once the plan is set, a contract will be written that confirms all the details. Then, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the show!
What kind of belly dance do you do?
My specialty is Egyptian style dance, which I have been training in since 2001, but I'm also trained in folkloric styles, including saidi, a dance from Upper Egypt. Egyptian orientale--my favorite style--is the kind of glitzy, dynamic dance that you'd most often see performed at a restaurant or wedding. I am also proficient in many props, including zils (finger cymbals), Wings of Isis, veils, cane (assaya), sword and balancing tray. To hone my technique and learn new dance styles, I frequently study with renowned international dance performers and instructors.
What happens at a belly dance show?
A typical show at a party includes a high energy or dramatic entrance piece, a mix of classical and pop pieces, a drum solo and, if it is something you and your guests would enjoy, a finale song that will get everyone up on the dance floor.
Another type of belly dance show is the Show & Mini-lesson, where the show is followed by a dance lesson for the party guests.
I want my whole family to be at my party. Is your show appropriate for Grandma and the grandkids?
Yes! Belly dance is an extremely family-friendly form of entertainment that's great for all ages--my own grandmother is one of my biggest fans! In Egypt, belly dance is a social dance, performed at weddings and celebrations where entire families are in attendance, and it's the same at all of my shows here in the New York area. Younger children love the sparkly costumes and fun music, and often join me on the dance floor during shows.
What goes into a rate for a show?
Like all professional performances, much more goes into a belly dance show than just the performance itself. To make sure that your event features a memorable and top-quality show, Najla prepares a custom show just for you by choosing music and creating dances for your special day. The enjoyment a belly dancer brings to your special occasion will be worth every penny you spend and more.
The event fee pays for everything that it takes to make the quality entertainment that you and your guest deserve to enjoy. Like all professional performers, belly dancers spend years honing their craft by studying with the highest-caliber instructors, collecting a library of exciting music, and coordinating a wardrobe of beautiful costumes. These elements all come together on the day of your event, making for the high-caliber show that you expect and deserve.
