"BD on the Island" will take audience members on a "mini-history" tour of Egyptian-style belly dance, chronicling the art form's traditions and transformations via the presentation of a variety of dance and musical styles. After learning a bit about the dance, audience members will be invited to learn a short choreography (also posted on YouTube prior to the event), which will they will then perform en masse in the spirit of FIGMENT's collaborative mission. Attendees are encouraged to use social media outlets to help make this the biggest mass belly dance performance in NYC history. |
